Aggies Prepare for Dual Meet Against Arizona Wildcats Following Strong Performance at Texas Invitational

The Texas A&M swimming & diving team is set to compete in a two-day dual meet against the arizona Wildcats, beginning Friday at 4 p.m.CST and continuing Saturday at 10:30 a.m.CST at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center in Tucson, Arizona. The Aggies enter the meet with the men’s team ranked No. 25 and the women’s team at No. 24, building momentum from a successful showing at the recent Texas Invitational.

Aggies Dominate at Texas Invitational, Secure NCAA Qualifying Times

The Texas Invitational proved to be a pivotal event for the Aggies, with a total of 15 swimmers achieving NCAA qualifying cut times – nine on the men’s side and six for the women.This strong performance underscores the team’s dedication and potential as the season progresses.

Men’s Team Led by Standout Performances

Junior Logan Brown spearheaded the men’s team’s efforts, securing three NCAA qualifying times in the 100-meter breaststroke (52.51), freshman Alejandro Michelena in the 200-meter butterfly (1:42.47), freshman AJ Robinson in the 400-meter IM (3:43.55), junior Ben Scholl in the 50-meter freestyle (19.14), and sophomore Chase Swearingen in the 100-meter butterfly (45.30).

Women’s Team Demonstrates Depth and Speed

On the women’s side, junior Ava Whitaker and sophomore Ella mcquinn led the charge, each earning two NCAA qualifying times. Whitaker excelled in the 100-meter butterfly (52.34) and 200-meter butterfly (1:55.01), with her 100-meter fly time also earning her a spot in the school record book. McQuinn achieved qualifying times in the 100-meter freestyle (48.54) and 100-meter breaststroke (59.42), also etching her name into the Aggie record books.

Senior Kaitlyn Owens set a new program record in the 100-meter backstroke (51.78) while also securing a qualifying time, and freshman Lillie Sczech achieved a qualifying time and a program record in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:09.25). Junior Halina Panczyszyn and junior katie Walker also contributed qualifying times in the 200-meter backstroke (1:54.76) and 200-meter butterfly (1:57.03), respectively.

Aggie Divers Qualify for NCAA Zones

The Aggie divers also showcased their talent at the Texas Diving Invitational,with four athletes qualifying for NCAA Zones. Sophomore Gabby Felting qualified on the platform with a score of 267.05, while sophomores Jaxon Bowshire (336.70) and freshman Emilio Trevino (426.40) also secured their spots on the platform. Sophomore Nathan Stone demonstrated versatility by qualifying on both the 1-meter springboard (307.25) and the 3-meter springboard (336.05).
