Dubai: When Australia won the T20 World Cup 2021, opener David Warner was named the tournament’s Player of the Year. Warner surpassed Pakistan captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Wanindu Hasaranga for the most runs in the tournament. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is questioning this.

Warner’s 53 off 38 balls was crucial as Australia chased down a 173-run target against New Zealand to win by eight wickets. Warner has scored 289 runs in seven World Cups at an average of 48.16, including three fifties. The Australian opener, who was out of form at the start of the tournament, made a strong comeback at the end of the group stage. The scores in the last three matches are 89 *, 49 and 53.
Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Babur Assam was in dream form at this World Cup. The Pakistan captain has scored 303 runs at an average of 60 in six matches. Babur started the first match against India with 68 runs. He later named Fifty Fifty against Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. Warner also beat Sri Lanka’s Vanindu Hasaranga, who led the way with 16 wickets in eight matches, in a bid to become the tournament’s all-time leading scorer. Hazare had scored 119 runs at a strike rate of 148.75.
