The Taliban that came to power in Afghanistan (the movement is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia) issued a statement according to which it is forbidden to hold protest actions in all provinces of the country without the consent of the new Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Sky News reports this with reference to the document.

Representatives of the new government stressed that violators of the ban will face the consequences. The publication notes that the Taliban’s announcement was made a day after militants fired into the air to disperse protesters in Kabul.

According to media reports, earlier residents of Afghanistan came out to rallies against the Taliban and Pakistani interference in state affairs. Other protests were held in support of women’s rights. It is noted that people were dispersed using tear gas, among other things.

The Taliban came back to power in Afghanistan in August. This happened more than two months after US President Joe Biden initiated the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan at the end of May 2021; they had been there for almost 20 years – since October 2001. At the same time, the Afghan resistance forces were concentrated in the Panjshir province. The militants announced that they had taken control of it on September 6. As a result, the Taliban announced a complete seizure of power.

Later, the Taliban announced key appointments in the new Afghan government. It was headed by Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, one of the associates of the founder of the movement, Mullah Omar. Abdul Ghani Baradar, head of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, became the deputy prime minister. The son of the founder of the so-called Taliban-friendly “Haqqani network” (banned and recognized as a terrorist group), Sarajuddin Haqqani, has been appointed Interior Minister.
