Chennai Minister Senthil Balaji Arrested by Enforcement Directorate in Money Transfer Case

Chennai, Tamil Nadu – Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 14 in connection with a case registered under the Prevention of Illegal Money Transfer Act. The ED had previously filed a charge sheet in this case. Senthil Balaji has twice sought bail in this matter, but his petition has been rejected by the Chennai District Principal Sessions Court.

As the minister remains in jail, concerns about his health have emerged. Recently, he complained of numbness in his legs and shortness of breath, leading to his admission to Stanley Hospital in Chennai for medical treatment. Senthil Balaji, who is currently incarcerated, is said to be in poor health.

In light of the circumstances, a bail petition was filed yesterday in the Chennai High Court on behalf of Senthil Balaji. Senior advocate Ilango, representing the minister, requested urgent consideration of the bail plea before Justice Jayachandran.

The judge, acknowledging the urgency of the matter, assured that he would hear the bail plea today. In the meantime, the Enforcement Directorate received a report from nine doctors at Chennai Stanley Hospital, detailing Senthil Balaji’s current health condition. Justice Jayachandran ordered the Enforcement Directorate to respond to the bail plea and adjourned the hearing till the 15th.

It is important to note that Senthil Balaji’s previous bail pleas have already been dismissed twice by the Madras Principal Sessions Court. The ongoing legal proceedings continue to attract attention, as the case against the Tamil Nadu Minister takes a new turn.
