Urban Local Body Elections Results: Elections were held in 21 corporations, 138 municipalities and 489 municipalities in Tamil Nadu the day before yesterday (February 19). The average turnout in this election was 60.70 per cent. After 11 years the election ended peacefully without any untoward incidents.
A total of 31,150 polling stations were set up for this. In addition, 1 lakh 60 thousand electronic machines were used for the election.
3 layer protection
Electronic voting machines are kept at the counting centers with heavy security after the polls close. There are 3 layers of security with gunmen. It is being monitored 24 hours a day by CCTV cameras
Voting starts at 8 a.m.
In this situation, the counting of votes will start from 8 am today (February 22) in 268 centers across Tamil Nadu. Postal votes are to be counted first. Following that, the registered votes will be counted in the voting machines. It takes place in about 15 places as far as Chennai is concerned. About 2,000 people are expected to be involved in the counting of votes.
More than 30,000 police have been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents during the polls.
The results will be known at 10 am
The results of the counting of votes will be declared in full ward wise. The results are likely to be released from 10 am. The vote count is expected to be completed by evening.
Tasmac closure
In addition, to avoid unnecessary clashes, 5 km around the 268 polling stations will be located. The State Election Commission has ordered the closure of all Tasmacs and bars operating in the perimeter throughout the day.
Indirect election on the 4th
Indirect elections to elect the mayor, mayors and mayors will be held on the 4th of next month. Ward members elected by the public will elect chairpersons and vice-chairmen for these positions.
