Before the final of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a photo session with the trophy took place today. Naturally there was talk of the captains of the two finalist teams. But Tamim Iqbal or Liton Das; Neither was there. Fortune Barisal captain Tamim Iqbal expressed regret for not being able to attend the photo session.

Today Thursday (February 29) Tamim posted a post from his recognized Facebook page through social media. There he wrote, ‘BCB chose a wonderful place today to host the trophy unveiling before the BPL final. But I couldn’t go there. I apologize for this to BCB, BPL Governing Council and all the followers of Bangladesh Cricket. It was certainly my duty as captain to be in such an arrangement.’

Tamim also wrote that he could not attend due to his busy schedule, ‘We played the qualifier match last night. After completing all the formalities at the end of the match, it was late for us to return to the hotel. Then there were special arrangements from the team to celebrate the joy of reaching the final. Besides, I had some extra busyness as captain. I am very late in finishing everything. It was not possible to leave the hotel at 8:30 am.’

Stating that he did not do this to make the BPL shorter, the opener further said, ‘I have always personally valued the BPL and tried to elevate the tournament. Never wanted to downplay this tournament in any way. If I get a chance to do something for BPL, I will try my best to come forward in future. But in today’s situation I had no choice and for that I apologize again.’

Since the captains of both teams were not present, Zaker Ali Anik came from Comilla and Mehdi Hasan Miraj represented Barisal. But everyone expected the two captains Liton Das or Tamim Iqbal to unveil the trophy. Miraj-Anikra came and first shot for the broadcasting company and then participated in the photo session.
