This meeting was an opportunity to recall the lessons that rising generations must learn from this national epic, which represents an essential milestone in the history of struggles against colonialism for the recovery of the independence and unity of Morocco. .

The High Commissioner for former resistance fighters and former members of the Liberation Army, Mustafa El Ktiri, indicated that this meeting offers the opportunity to commemorate a memorable date in the register of fights for the completion of national independence and the consecration of territorial unity, adding that the populations of the combatant regions of the Sahara led this battle to defend the constants of the nation and its sacred religious and cultural values.

He stressed that this anniversary is also an opportunity to recall the heroic national struggles of the entire Moroccan people, under the leadership of the glorious Alawite throne, for the independence and territorial integrity of Morocco, from the far north. to the confines of the Sahara.

This event, he adds, also allows us to recall the feats of arms of the populations of the Moroccan Sahara in the epic of the throne and the people, and their historical positions after the return from exile of the late HM Mohammed V and of his illustrious family, when the representatives, sheikhs and notables of the southern provinces appeared before the late Sovereign to reiterate the oath of allegiance and express their willingness to fight for the liberation of the southern regions.

The High Commissioner recalled, on this occasion, several battles waged by the inhabitants of the southern provinces against foreign occupation, giving the enemy lessons of patriotism, courage and dedication for the defense of the sacred causes of the nation.

This meeting, attended by the interim governor of the province of Tan-Tan, Abdellatif Chedali, was marked by the tribute paid to a group of former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army from the province of Tan-Tan and the distribution of financial aid to former members of the resistance family and their widows, for the creation of economic projects, cooperatives or as material support.

Subsequently, Mr. El Ktiri visited the space of historical memory of resistance and liberation in Tan-Tan.
