Tuesday marks a significant day for Tarleton State basketball, as Eric Haut will be formally introduced as the 16th head coach in program history. The press conference, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. At the EECU Center, is open to the public, with doors opening at 10:00 a.m. Haut arrives from Utah State, where he served as Associate Head Coach for the past two seasons (2024-26), bringing a wealth of experience to the Texan program. The excitement doesn’t stop with basketball. Also on Tuesday, the Texan softball team will face a formidable challenge as they host No. 3 Texas Tech at 5 p.m. At the Tarleton State Softball Complex. Texan Baseball Continues Strong Run
Tarleton State baseball is coming off a perfect week, having secured a 4-0 record on the road, including a notable victory against No. 2 Texas and a series sweep of Stephen F. Austin. The team will conclude a five-game road trip with a contest at Lamar on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Before returning home to host Air Force for a three-game series this weekend. The series against Air Force will kick off Friday at 6 p.m., followed by games on Saturday at 3 p.m. And Sunday at 1 p.m.
The weekend series against Air Force will feature special events honoring military personnel. Friday’s game will be Military Appreciation Day, with a giveaway provided by the Corps of Cadets. Saturday will include a ceremonial first pitch by Joel Robison, a Tarleton State alumnus whose father also coached at Air Force, further emphasizing the theme of military appreciation. Sunday’s game will have a festive touch, with purple Easter Bunny ears being distributed and an Easter egg hunt planned for after the game.
Record-Breaking Performances in Track and Field
Tarleton State track and field athletes recently made their mark at the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational, setting two new school records. Jacob Thomas broke a 17-year-old record in the pole vault, while Tayler Wessely surpassed her own record in the hammer throw by over seven meters. Success Continues for Tennis and Beach Volleyball
The Texan tennis team is riding a three-game winning streak, currently holding an 11-5 overall record. They recently secured a 4-1 road win at UT Arlington and have six regular season matches remaining before the WAC Tournament. Senior Emma Persson and freshmen Aya Ishii and Marissa Minetti were recognized by the WAC last week, earning Singles and Doubles Players of the Week honors, respectively.
Tarleton State beach volleyball is also experiencing success, recently defeating San Francisco 4-1 at the Arizona Invitational. The team is one win away from matching last season’s program record for single-season wins, currently standing at five wins in their third season of existence. This weekend, they will compete in the Sandy Poke Invitational in Lake Charles, Louisiana, facing McNeese at 10 a.m. CT and Southeastern Louisiana at 12 p.m. CT.
