Tax collection in Gipuzkoa rose by 4.8% until August compared to the same period last year after growing only 2.3% in July. The income of the Provincial Treasury thus continues to show figures in the green, with 3,617 million euros collected in the first eight months of the year, a figure higher by 166.7 million. The provincial coffers continue to fill thanks, above all, to the consumption tax (VAT), which in July ended its good streak and showed figures in the red, and to withholdings for work (IRPF).
The positive evolution registered until August is explained, on the one hand, by the increase in income in the following items: withholdings on work income (116 million euros more), VAT (27.5 million more), the personal income tax differential (53.3 million above) and the differential corporate tax (12.4 million). The decrease in VAT refunds also deserves special attention (they were reduced by 44.8 million), as well as the decrease in interterritorial adjustments with the State (130.9 million).
In the section of excise taxes, collection from the tax on tobacco products has decreased by 12.6 million (-13.4%), and 5.4 million less have been collected in Hydrocarbons (-2.2%) and 3.2 million in the tax established this year on non-reusable plastic containers. Finally, with regard to the accumulated adjustments carried out with the State, compared to the same period of the previous year, these are reduced by 29.6 million in VAT and improved by 30.5 million in taxes. specials.
