Thirty-three Swifties scream-shout the lyrics to Taylor Swift songs, but not in a stadium or at a therapy session. They’re doing it in a workout class. Welcome to Swiftie Liftie, a rhythmic, full-body exercise class set entirely to the showgirl’s music.
Inside the Swiftie Liftie Experience
Inside a neon-lit room in central Phoenix, bodies move in unison as Swift’s bridges and choruses become cues for squats, lunges and boat holds. The room pulses with color and bass, every rep syncing with a lyric fans know by heart. Instructor Alexy Posner shoots electricity through the Groundwrk Phoenix studio as she sings along and urges fans to grab the weights tucked beneath their benches.
“At Groundwrk, the studio can be a dark, studio vibe, and I’m the pink girl that comes in and says, ‘Let’s play Taylor,'” Posner says in an interview over Zoom. “I started about a year ago in February, doing classes once a month, and I love that I’ve been able to build this Swiftie Liftie Club.”
Themed Workouts and a Growing Community
Every month has a different theme. On Dec. 14, the class embraced Merry Spicy Swiftmas.”I’ve done album battles,” Posner says. “I’ve done evolution of Taylor.
