For the tenth time, spotify summarizes the music year with “Spotify Wrapped”.
This year, just like last year, Taylor swift is the most streamed artist. Both in Norway and globally.
Music expert and host Sandeep Singh believes Swift is more of a industry genius than a musical genius:
– She is extremely skilled at staying relevant. She releases an album almost every year, so you never realy get a chance to forget her.

Fewer Norwegian artists in the top ten
The most popular Norwegian artists this year are two boy bands. Roc Boyz has been the most played and is in seventh place on the list. A few places behind is the group Golfklubb.
– I feel we have cracked the code on how to get “streamed.” If we want to create a hit, we can do that. But we also want to create something that means something, says golfklubb member Oscar Berggaard to NRK.

there are also fewer Norwegian artists on the list of the most streamed songs.
Three songs are on the list this year: “soldat – RMX” with Golfklubb as one of the artists (3rd place), “Bærum Bitches” by Søte og Rare Gutter (4th place), and “Badebussen” by DJ MøMø and Kjartan Lauritzen (7th place).
Last year, however, seven of the ten songs were made by Norwegian artists.
– Over the past decade, we have been blessed with many strong Norwegian artists who have also influenced international markets. But this year has perhaps been a bit weak for music, says Sandeep Singh.
– But three of the ten most streamed songs are norwegian. So it’s not entirely a crisis. But there is definitely potential for improvement, he adds.
The most popular song in the world among Spotify listeners is “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter.Recently, it was announced that Carpenter will come to Norway next year.

Listening to country music in Norway has increased by more than 40 percent from last year, according to the streaming service.
The streaming service says that the genre has received a boost from big names like Beyoncé and Post Malone.
Spotify says Beyoncé has contributed to more people listening to country music this year.

– The music you listen to communicates something just like the clothes you choose. It shows a bit what class we belong to or wish to belong to.
