Everything is now ready for one of the most anticipated sporting events in our country to kick off: the Basketball King’s Cup. The format of this competition has become one of the favorites of sports lovers thanks to the excitement it arouses every year.
This tournament, organized by the Association of Basketball Clubs (ACB), usually takes place in just four days around a venue chosen to celebrate one of the great festivals of the basket. Thus, eight Endesa League teams will fight again this year to lift the first title of 2023.
Format and dates of the Copa del Rey basketball 2023
The format of the Copa del Rey is one of the shortest, as it consists of only seven games that usually take place in just four days. This 2023, the Thursday 16, Friday 17, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 February.
Thus, the eight teams classified for this tournament play single-match qualifiers. Four quarterfinal matches, two semifinals and a grand final that will serve to finally choose the club that stands as the winner of the basketball competition this year.
Where is the 2023 ACB Cup played?
Every year, the venue for the Copa del Rey changes city to spread the passion for this sport to all corners of our country. With a view to this new edition, the ACB has designated Badalona as the place to host the tournament.
The competition will be held entirely at the Palau Municipal d’Esports in the Catalan city, known as the Badalona Olympic. It will be the second time that Badalona has become the venue for the tournament, as it already was in the 1984-85 season.

Although the Endesa League consists of 18 teams, not all of them participate in this Copa del Rey. Only eight will be chosen to be part of this competition, for which it is necessary to qualify during the regular season. The eight teams that contest the Copa del Rey are the seven best teams in the Endesa League at the end of the first round together with the best ranked club from the host city.
