Mocidade closes the first weekend of technical rehearsals Disclosure/Rio Carnaval Almost a month before Carnival, the technical rehearsals of the samba schools in Rio de Janeiro begin in Sapucaí. On Saturday (6), starting at 7pm, the Gold Series clubs will pass through the avenue. Among them are União do Parque Acari, Arranco, Império da Tijuca and Estácio de Sá. On Sunday (7), it will be the Special Group’s turn. At 8:30 pm, Porto da Pedra, winner of the Gold Series in 2023, begins preparations for Carnival. Next, Mocidade, which will present the samba-enredo “Pede caju que I give… pé de caju que gives!”, closes the first weekend of technical rehearsals. According to the organizers, the Sambadrome stands will be open to locals and tourists, who will be able to follow the groups’ preparations free of charge. It is important to remind the public that the subway will extend boarding times until midnight, on Sundays, at the Central do Brasil and Praça Onze stations, while the technical trials last.
