Chat GPT has been on everyone’s lips for months. The program, which can help you in almost all situations with artificial intelligence, is now also finding its way into cars. While a number of vehicle manufacturers are still in the Chat-GPT test phase, DS, a noble offshoot from Stellantis, is already going one step further. It starts this month.

Because artificial intelligence Chat GPT now complements the in-house iris speech recognition in DS vehicle models. This is initially a six-month test phase in which 20,000 users can use the personal voice assistant even more intensively. The prerequisite is a vehicle from the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7 or DS 9 series of the current model generation. By integrating Chat GPT, there are hardly any limits to conversations with your own vehicle, because the AI ​​program can access an almost unlimited pool of information that can be accessed via voice command. The occupants of the DS models can not only converse in fluent language using Chat GPT, but can also ask questions about the surroundings, restaurants, sights or travel arrangements, which are answered almost in real time and, if desired, transferred to the navigation system as a destination, for example. A visit to the DS service center is not necessary for the new service, because after registration, the program installs itself in the vehicle via an over-the-air update via data transfer.

The voice-based use of Chat GPT is made possible by integrating the software “SoundHound AI powered by ChatGPT API” into the DS Iris operating system of the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9 series. The six-month pilot phase is initially in Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain and Italy can be used in the respective national language. However, the Stellantis Group makes no secret of the fact that there is a good chance that after the test phase the system will go into regular operation by the end of February 2024 and other countries will be included.
