“Technology must serve to make a better society”

The Deputy for New Technologies, acting, of the Diputació de Girona, Jordi Xargay, and the president of AENTEG (Association of Companies of New Technologies of Girona), David Martí, presented this Thursday, in the Ferran Agulló room of the corporation, the 17th edition of the E-TECH Awardswhich will recognize the best projects, initiatives, organizations and individuals in the field of new technologies.

The awards were born 19 years ago, and have been held continuously, with two biennial editions. The president of AENTEG, who will leave his position next week at the annual assembly of the technological employers’ association, has assured that participation in the awards is increasing, both in terms of attendees and all those who present themselves as candidates for the awards. Martí considers that the E-TECH Awards have become “an annual party of the sector”. In addition, the president of the association has defended that technology “is an element of economic, business and social change”, but which at the same time “must serve to make a better society”.

For his part, Xargay emphasized that the awards that “they are benchmark awards that have taken root in our demarcation“. “New technologies are essential in our day-to-day life, there is great talent in the Girona counties, and a lot at a technological level,” he added.

The call for awards remains open from Thursday, May 18, until October 16. To formalize a candidacy, it is necessary to fill in the form that is open and available to those companies, individuals and entities that wish to apply, which can be found on the same web page of the Awards (www.premisetech.com).

The award ceremony for these awards will be held on Monday, November 20 at the Josep Irla Auditorium of the Generalitat in Girona. This location has hosted the editions of recent years, with the exception of 2020, which was held at the Mercè Cultural Center without an audience.
