Mumbai police have detained a 17-year-old in connection with a series of bomb threats on domestic and international flights on Indian airlines that turned out to be false. This was reported by the NDTV channel, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
A youth from Chhattisgarh is accused of hoaxing at least three flights. He said he posted bomb threats on X (formerly Twitter) on behalf of a friend with whom he had an argument over money and whom he wanted to frame. The Mumbai Police has detained the teenager and handed him over to the Juvenile Justice Board. His father testifies.
Since Monday, at least 19 Indian airline flights have received bomb threats on board. According to the Indian Civil Aviation Safety Authority, all of them came through X. In most cases, the captains made the decision to make emergency landings at nearby airports. Security services carried out checks and no explosive devices were found on any of the planes.
