/ Despite the ban on the official import of iPhone, a large number of Apple phones have entered the Iranian market in the past ten months.

“In the past ten months, iPhones worth $1 billion have entered the Iranian market,” the Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported, translated by Agency. “This comes at a time when the import of iPhones into Iran has been officially banned and products of this model have not been registered since the iPhone 14,” it noted.

The report described the $1 billion worth of iPhone imports in the past 10 months as a “major currency shock.”

The report added that “Apple has no official presence in Iran and does not even provide software services,” indicating that “the iPhones that reach Iranians are often imported from other countries such as the United Arab Emirates.”

A mobile phone like the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which has been discontinued worldwide, costs more than 100 million tomans (about $2,000) in the Iranian market.
