/ An informed Iranian diplomatic source denied, on Friday, what was published by the Wall Street Journal regarding the existence of intelligence cooperation between Washington and Tehran, especially with regard to the terrorist attack in Kerman three weeks ago.

An informed security official told the Iranian official news agency IRNA: “If there was a security message exchanged by the United States, it was with the aim of being safe from Iran’s response, especially after the Israeli war on Gaza.”

The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday, Thursday, that American officials claimed that the United States had secretly warned Iran that ISIS was preparing to carry out a “terrorist attack,” and that the secret warning was conveyed to Tehran from there, where the United States had received information that the “Khorasan Group,” affiliated with ISIS, was planning to launch an attack on Iran.

On January 3, 2024, two terrorist explosions, claimed by the terrorist organization ISIS, took place on the road leading to the “Martyrs’ Shrine” in the city of Kerman, southeast of Iran, leaving 95 dead and 284 wounded. This terrorist incident sparked widespread regional and international condemnation.

In this context, US State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel refused to comment on the Wall Street Journal’s claim that Washington had warned Tehran about the terrorist attack in Kerman.

A reporter asked Patel whether there was intelligence cooperation between the United States and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. He replied: “I have no public opinion or assessment in this area. According to our information, the terrorist attack in Kerman has all the characteristics of ISIS attacks, and we want to reiterate our sympathy with the Iranian people.”
