Hyderabad, February 6, 2026 – Telangana residents are increasingly ditching long lines and crowded offices, with over 325,000 people now accessing government services directly through WhatsApp. It’s a quiet revolution in civic engagement, and it’s happening entirely on your phone.

WhatsApp MeeSeva: A New Era of Digital Governance

The Telangana government’s WhatsApp-based service is streamlining access to essential documents and approvals, offering 24/7 convenience to citizens.

  • Over 450,000 people have registered for services on WhatsApp MeeSeva.
  • The platform currently offers 581 services across more than 10 government departments.
  • Citizens can track applications and download approved certificates directly through the app.
  • The service was officially launched on November 18, 2025, by IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu.

Forget frustrating visits to MeeSeva centers. Telangana’s innovative WhatsApp MeeSeva initiative is rapidly becoming a go-to resource for everything from birth certificates to property tax payments. The service, accessible through the dedicated number 8096958096, aims to eliminate queues and simplify interactions with the government.

What exactly can you do on WhatsApp MeeSeva? The platform boasts a comprehensive catalog of 581 services spanning over 10 government departments. Popular requests include income, caste, birth, death, and residence certificates, as well as police challans, ration shop renewals, temple bookings, building permissions, vehicle tax payments, licenses, and property tax services.

One of the biggest perks? Applicants can monitor their application status in real-time and download approved certificates directly to their WhatsApp, cutting down on unnecessary trips to physical centers.

IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu formally launched the service on November 18, 2025, emphasizing its potential to accelerate service delivery and foster stronger citizen-government connections. The system allows users to submit inquiries, apply for services, make payments, and check application statuses—all through simple text messages, making it accessible even for those less familiar with digital platforms.

The convenience extends to spiritual pursuits as well. WhatsApp MeeSeva now facilitates online bookings for darshan (viewing of deities) and accommodation at 31 temples across the state. Looking ahead, the government intends to integrate emergency services like ambulance (108 and 102), fire services (101), LPG cylinder booking, and key helpline numbers into the platform.

Continued Reliance on Physical Centers

While WhatsApp MeeSeva gains traction, the traditional MeeSeva centers remain vital. Over 5,000 centers continue to serve between 80,000 and 100,000 people daily. Between November 1, 2023, and January 31, 2026, these centers processed a total of 5.98 crore transactions, amounting to ₹3,811 crore, according to official data.
