El Temporada Alta and El Pot Petit will premiere on October 1 a day dedicated to the family audience with the aim of reclaiming a type of show that “is usually done with a lot of passion and few means”. PetiTA is born from a collaboration of the festival with the family music group, which has taken charge of the stage management and headlines the billalongside Black Music Big Band, Brodas Bros, Vaivén Circo, Campi Qui Pugui, Xirriquiteula, Les Estampades or Marc Serrats.

“We must claim that this type of programming must be done under the best conditions, a reality that is not common in the sector”, explains Sunyer, and gives the example that “the same boxes are being paid to artists as forty years ago”.

Helena Bagué and Siddartha Vargas, Jana and Pau from El Pot Petit agree, who explain that “sometimes you have to ask for obvious things, such as stages or sound equipment as needed”.

«Here there will be stages, screens, lighting and whatever they need», continues Sunyer about a day that, he points out, “it is not a concert or a show, but many and of various artistic languages”.

One of the strong dishes of the day will be a concert by El Pot Petit in collaboration with the Black Music Big Band, with the songs of the Girona group in format big band with about thirty people on stage.

“Throughout the festival nexcept there is another show that includes so many performers», explains Sunyer about this co-production between the festival and the group that has already started rehearsals.

After the band’s “special” concert there is a “surprise” planned, of which they only wanted to give a hint: “it’s something that Pau d’El Pot Petit really likes”.

The test of a new format

Sunyer points out that it is La PetiTA is the proof of a new format for the festival, taking advantage of the recovery of Fira de Girona as a stage for large-format shows and that the intention is that has continuity if the public response is good.

The moment, 1,500 tickets have been sold. The forecast is that the capacity will not exceed 2,500 people, to “prioritize the comfort of families”. In this way, it can be entered and exited at any timethere will be a calm space for the little ones and, although there will be a space for food trucksyou can bring food and drink from outside.

Taking advantage of the infrastructure that the festival will set up at the Palau de Fires for Antònia Font’s concert the day beforea day is planned from 11 in the morning to 7 in the evening, with large-format music, dance or circus shows spread over two stages, one of which will include screens and performance, for a wide age range.

“We proposed the programming as a mirror of what Temporada Alta offersfrom local artists, such as Les Estampades, to Catalan, Spanish and international artists, such as Hands Down Circus”, explains Vargas.

Thus, in the musical section, apart from El Pot Petit, Brodas Bros will present Hipstory, a review of the history of hip-hop. In the circus, Les Espampades will hold their aerial dance shows; Vaivén Circo will present Esencial, a circus proposal inspired by the Rainbow toy of Waldorf pedagogy and Hands Down Circus, an acrobatic duet show. There will also be participatory installations and traveling shows from Campi Qui Pugui and Xirriquiteula.

The day will be accessiblewith shows performed in Catalan sign languages, magnetic loop systems and vibrating backpacks.

Nine family shows

The PetiTA is the festival’s most outstanding proposal for the little ones, but not the only one. In this edition there is nine family shows, four of which are premieres: the new proposal of the company Ninnus with Cascai Teatre titled Let’s play?the clown show Like penguins presented by La Bleda; the story of a non-playing music box doll signed Chocolate Ears and titled On/Off; and finally Madame Luimèrethe magic show of Faló Garcia and La Menuda Produccions.
