Düsseldorf The US electric car manufacturer Tesla wants to better protect its data in the future. This emerges from an internal message that the company sent to its employees. According to this, Tesla will, among other things, control access rights in internal systems more closely at the request of its legal department. The letter is available to the Handelsblatt.

The reason for the intervention are the Tesla files. Informants have leaked more than 100 gigabytes of data to the Handelsblatt, originating from the heart of the group. According to the informants, even personal data of customers and employees was more or less freely accessible for many Tesla employees – including salaries, home addresses and social security numbers.
