by liam.oconnor - Sports Editor
  • The TGL, a tech-forward golf league spearheaded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, begins its second season on December 28th.
  • The league features six teams competing in a unique format combining full-swing shots and short-game play within a simulator environment.
  • All 15 regular-season matches and the playoffs will be broadcast nationally, primarily on ESPN and ABC.
  • A key matchup between Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf is scheduled for March 1st.

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida – The TGL, a groundbreaking venture in professional golf, is set to launch its second season before the year ends, carrying heightened expectations. The league, shorthand for TMRW Golf League and helmed by golf icons Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will showcase 15 regular-season matches contested by six teams over three months.

The SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, will once again serve as the league’s home, hosting all 15 matches and the playoffs. Broadcasts will be nationally televised, mirroring the same time slots as the inaugural campaign. However, the 2026 schedule isn’t a carbon copy of the first. The popular Presidents Day tripleheader won’t return, but a highly anticipated showdown between Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf is slated for Sunday, March 1, immediately following the conclusion of the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic, also held in the same city.

The postseason will unfold in the weeks following The Tour Championship, strategically positioning the TGL before the major championship season takes center stage on the PGA Tour.

TGL Format

TGL matches unfold across 15 holes, divided into two distinct sessions. Players launch full-swing shots from grass, rough, or sand platforms into a high-tech simulator screen. The short game – shots under 50 yards and putts – takes place inside the SoFi Center on a rotating, adjustable green.

Holes Nos. 1-9 — Triples (3 vs. 3 alternate shot): Two teams of three golfers compete, with a rotating three-man lineup taking turns hitting one shot at a time for each team until the hole is completed.

Holes Nos. 10-15 — Singles (head-to-head play): A golfer from each team faces off on each hole. All three players from each team will play a hole, one by one, before the rotation begins again on holes 13-15.

Overtime: 3 vs. 3 closest-to-the-pin competition.

Scoring: Each hole is worth one point, with ties resulting in zero points. There are no carryovers.

The Hammer: Each hole is worth one point unless a team strategically employs the “hammer” – a weighted yellow flag that doubles the point value of that hole. A team can choose to accept the hammer and play for two points or deny it, conceding the hole. Each team has three hammers to utilize throughout the match.

Shot clock: Players have 40 seconds to execute their shots, or a one-stroke penalty is assessed.

Timeouts: Each team is granted four timeouts per match – two during the Triples session and two during the Singles session. Timeouts do not carry over between sessions.
