The Game Awards 2024 have come to an end! You didn’t have the stamina to stay up all night? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a rundown of the biggest moments from this year’s event.
The biggest winner of the night was undoubtedly Astro Bot, taking home not only the coveted "Game of the Year" award, but also honors for "Best direction," "Best Action-adventure Game," and "Best Family Game."
But the night was especially electric with two major announcements that trademarked keifstrikers, heart palpitations, and fervent fan discussions all night. The Witcher 4, announced earlier this week, was confirmed, with a gripping teaser showcasing Ciri in a more mature and powerful light. CDProjekt officials made it clear – this isn’t just another installment, but a bold new chapter for the franchise.
Then came another bombshell: elden Ring Nightreign! This immersive and ambitious expansion aims to totally reinvigorate FromSoftware’s masterpiece, introducing cooperative play for up to three players and new gameplay mechanics like flying mounts and wall-climbing. The trailer promised an ever-shifting, online-centric environment, taking cue from the Battle Royale genre, where players navigate together through changing landscapes and challenges.
While The Witcher and Elden Ring stole the show, the Game Awards had plenty of other highlights.Kia and Okami, ninjas Fancy, and veteran developers Sloclap (known for their acclaimed game ABZU presented their new project, now in development. We can’t wait to see what these titles have in store.
