The 64th conference of the International Organization of Judges was hosted this week in Israel

This week, the Judges’ Organization in Israel, led by Tel Aviv District Court Judge Yaron Levy, hosted, for the first time in the State of Israel, the 64th annual conference of the International Judges’ Organization, the largest event held in the organization’s history. The first conference of its kind is of great importance for the judiciary and as part of it, for a whole week, delegations from 71 countries numbering about 300 judges from around the world held a professional, educational and experiential meeting.

During the week, the judges visited the Supreme Court, met with the President of the Supreme Court, Judge Esther Hayut, and with the judges of the Supreme Court, from there they continued to visit the Knesset of Israel, watched a show by the band “Shleva”, toured the Old City of Jerusalem and visited the holy places of the three religions as well as enjoyed sea experiences the salt. The closing event of the conference was held yesterday evening (Thursday) in a festive and special show at the foot of the mosque.

In addition, during the week, a professional conference was held on the topic of “law, technology and public goods”. Among the issues raised in it: the state of the justice system in Afghanistan and the fight against violence against women, the fight against human trafficking, the application of digital technology in legal proceedings, the challenges in the use of artificial intelligence in the justice system and more. At the conference, the director of the courts, Judge Yigal Marzel, spoke about the changes in the use of digitization in Israeli courts. In an exciting ceremony, the organization awarded prizes to three judges from the countries: Poland, Portugal and Guatemala, for their contribution to the issue of judicial independence.

The judges from the different countries, led by the head of the International Organization of Judges, Judge Jose Matos, praised the conference and its organizers, said that they were very excited to be hosted in the State of Israel and to enjoy the hospitable hospitality they received, they enjoyed the opportunity to return and meet, at the end of the Corona period, with their colleagues from the different countries, to exchange opinions and experiences, Be exposed to different judicial systems, deepen professional knowledge and hear about the judicial authority in the State of Israel.
