The 2nd sport of the Yerevan Mayor’s Transfer Cup 2016 tournament was basketball.
During this traditional city-wide yard festival under the title “Healthy Generation – Protected Motherland”, the young basketball players of the administrative districts decided the best in the games against each other for days. As a result, in the basketball tournament called “Yerevan Golden Basket”, the teams of Erebuni and Shengavit administrative regions competed for the 3rd and 4th places. The basketball players of Erebuni administrative district took the third place. The teams of Avan and Ajapnyak administrative regions met in the last and most basic game.
The basketball players from Ajapniak were more persistent and won the title of the winner of this race horse. Yuri Mamikonyan, head of the sports and youth affairs department of the Yerevan Municipality, handed them victory medals and certificates. The teams representing Avan and Erebuni administrative regions also received medals and certificates. Cups will be awarded to the winners of all sports later, and the team of the administrative district that won the festival overall will be awarded with the trophy of the mayor of Yerevan.
