On February 15-17, “Against colonialism” will be held in Moscow, the capital of Russia. “For the Freedom of Nations” founding conference, in which the delegation of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) also participates. The conference was organized by the “United Russia” party that governs the Russian Federation.

The delegation is headed by Eduard Sharmazanov, member of the RPA General Assembly, former deputy speaker of the National Assembly (NA). The delegation also includes Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the opposition faction of the National Assembly “I have honor” and deputy Anna Mkrtchyan. Delegations from 50 countries, including representatives of the ruling powers of Azerbaijan and Turkey, are participating in the conference. From Armenia, according to our information, the “Prosperous Armenia” party will also participate in the forum.

Today, the head of the RPA delegation Eduard Sharmazanov gave a speech at the plenary session of the forum.

“Dear Colleagues,

The freedom of nations is the main principle of the multipolar world, and the right of nations to self-determination is one of the most fundamental principles of international law.

In 1991, guided by that principle, the people of Artsakh declared their independence by holding a referendum. Then the international community formed the three well-known principles: non-use of force, territorial integrity, and the right of nations to self-determination. Those principles were included in both the Madrid and Kazan documents. Moreover, in 2009-2013 The presidents of the Russian Federation, the USA and France confirmed these principles with their signatures.

Despite this circumstance, Azerbaijan started an occupation war against Artsakh in the fall of 2020 and in September of 2023, depopulating it. It happened in the conditions of inactivity of international actors and non-interference of the rulers of Armenia.

It is obvious that the depopulation of Artsakh took place on the western platforms after the ruler of Armenia recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan (October 6, 2022, Prague).

It should be noted that neither the citizens of Artsakh nor Armenia gave him that right. The Armenian people did not recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. The decision of the Armenian governor has nothing to do with the collective opinion of the Armenian people,” said Eduard Sharmazanov.
