‘Today, I have been arrested in a 8.5 acre land scam case, if they dare, they should show me the records of the said land registered in my name. If it is proven, I will leave politics’, said Soren.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren had given a clean chit to Hemant Soren the other day. Soren responded that he was arrested for something he did not do.
Earlier After being arrested Hemant Soren made it clear that he will not accept defeat and will continue the fight. Soren says that he is defiant when times are tough and will not compromise in any way. Every moment is fought for. He clarified that he will fight every moment. Soren’s first reaction came when poet and academic Sivamangal Singh Suman shared some lines on X.
The dramatic seven-hour interrogation and Soren’s resignation led to his arrest. The 48-year-old Soren was taken to the ED office in Ranchi shortly after he submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
Meanwhile, after the ruling party meetings, Jharkhand Transport Minister Champai Soren was chosen as the next Chief Minister of the state. After being elected as JMM legislature party leader, Champai Soren approached the governor and claimed to form a new government in Jharkhand with the support of 47 legislators. Earlier there were rumors that Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren might become the chief minister.
The ED said Soren was questioned as part of an investigation into a huge racket involving illegal transfer of land ownership in Jharkhand. The money laundering charges against Soren relate to illegal possession of certain immovable properties apart from his links with ‘land mafia’ members. The ED says there is strong evidence against him in three money laundering cases in Jharkhand: land scam, coal scam and mining scam.
