The World Homeless Football Championship is a real event that has been held every year since 2001, under the auspices of the World Homeless Organization. 50 countries from all over the world compete in the league, including Israel’s homeless group, which has participated in the event three times.

The extraordinary league will be portrayed by Netflix in the comedy drama film. The plot follows Mel (Bill Nye“Love is the whole story”), manager of England’s homeless team, who takes the players to Rome, where the championship is held.

To ensure the victory, Mel decides to recruit the striker Vinny to the team (Michael Ward“Top Boy”), but it must first face his new life as a homeless person, and find his way back to the top.

In the trailer we understand that Vinny was a professional actor, but since then his life has turned upside down and he has been living in his car for months. Mel tries to recruit Vinny to the group, but Vinny refuses to accept being homeless. When they land in Rome, Vinny realizes that the championship is a serious and impressive event by all accounts and no different from the professional games he was used to.

Little by little Vinnie gets closer to the group members, and realizes that he is no better than them. Together, they will save each other and find a second chance at life through the game they have loved since they were children.
