The Catalan booksellers union celebrates that this year’s Sant Jordi has been “the best in history” and the “massive participation” after publishing its first sales balance this Sunday. After Saénz de Urturi are ‘How I (didn’t) write our history’, by Elisabet Benavent (Suma); ‘The married portrait’, by Maggie O’Farrell (Asteroid Books), ‘The crystal cuckoo’, by Javier Castillo (Suma), and ‘Children of the fable’, by Fernando Aramburu (Tusquets).
The Álava author shares first place in the ranking with ‘Les nostres mares’, last Sant Jordi Prize, edited by Proa, work by Gemma Ruiz, who leads the sales of books written in Catalan. Both women have been the readers’ favorites this year, according to the Catalan Book Chamber and the Catalan Booksellers Guild.
In the non-fiction category, the best sellers are ‘Gran Enciclopèdia del Barça’, by La Sotana (Blackie Books), and ‘How to make good things happen to you’, by Marian Rojas (Espasa).
