The most important stage of planned and preventive maintenance (PNV-2021) has started at the Armenian NPP: the reparative welding of the reactor body of the NPP has begun. Aspiration will allow 80-85% to return the operating characteristics of the reactor metal to the initial state. The implementation of this procedure will enable the Armenian NPP to operate until 2036.
The preparation of the sandblasting took almost a year and a half. Now the welding equipment has been installed in the hull, final checks have been completed and heating has begun. The reactor core is heated to 4750 degrees, kept at that temperature for 150 hours, after which slow cooling takes place. Heat treatment of the metal of the reactor body will be carried out within a week.
Within the framework of the modernization contract, the organization of works is carried out by “Rusatom Service” JSC, which is part of the power division of “Rosatom” state corporation. Currently, specialists from Russian companies and organizations are engaged in the management of the sintering facility, monitoring of all technological parameters and the sintering regime of the reactor body at the NPP, among which are: JSC ОКБ “ГИДROPРЕСС”, JSC NPO “ЦНИИТМАШ”, JSC “Atomenergoremont”, НЦ “Курчатовский”. institute”, ЦНИИКМ “Прометей” companies and organizations. In their turn, the specialists of JSC “NPO “ЦНИИТМАШ” have developed the technology of reactor core welding, which is carried out today in all plants in which the extension of the interest period is held.
For the first time, sintering technology was used in 1987, in the third power unit of the Novovoronezh NPP. Remedial firings have already been carried out in reactors of ВВЕР-440 nuclear power plants such as Kola NPP (Russia), Rovno NPP (Ukraine), Kozloduy NPP (Bulgaria) and Loviisa NPP (Finland).
