The Junta de Castilla y León continues to promote the work carried out in the Community’s research centers through investment in infrastructures that manage to strengthen the regional science, technology and innovation system. Thus, the coordinated purchase of equipment has a direct impact on the improvement of said ecosystem, avoids duplication and increases the efficiency of public spending, at the same time that it allows improving the supply of services and instrumental techniques of its central laboratories for both the research community and for the business fabric.

The call for subsidies that is resolved today in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (Bocyl) consolidates this policy, allocating 3,372,264 euros for 11 requests made by the universities of Burgos (four requests), Salamanca (three) and Valladolid (four ). The equipment will be used to carry out tests in the development of a project or a line of research and must be used by two or more research groups from public universities or research centers located in Castilla y León.

This line of subsidies is part of the ERDF Operational Program of Castilla y León 2014-2020 in its objective of promoting research, technological development and innovation, in order to achieve the strengthening of R&D institutions and the creation, consolidation and improvement of scientific and technological infrastructures; and in the Research and Innovation Strategy for Intelligent Specialization (RIS3) of Castilla y León 2021-2027.

Since this call was launched for the first time, five years ago, the Ministry of Education has allocated more than 15.5 million euros to it.

All the equipment acquired within the framework of this call -and that which has been made available for shared use by public universities- is integrated into a single portal for the management of the Central Services of Technical Support for Research in the Universities of Castilla y León called Infrared whose potential can be consulted at the following link.
