The movement of the collective of 11 candidates continues. They will meet in Andranomena this Monday, with the leitmotif “always together”, as Marc Ravalomanana indicates on his Facebook page. These candidates are multiplying the number of their demands and demanding, in a press release dated Saturday October 21, the cancellation of the first round of the presidential election of November 16, initially scheduled for November 9 but postponed by the High Constitutional Court (HCC ).
The collective of 11 candidates insists, among other things, on the renewal of the members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) and the establishment of a Special Electoral Court (CES). He explains his demands by the lack of neutrality of the authorities currently in place. Insisting on holding the first round of the presidential election on November 16 would then open the doors to an interminable political crisis that could cause instability in the country after the election, affirms the Collective.
While maintaining their movement in the streets, the Collective thinks it is necessary to return to a round table before holding an election. These candidates claim to have met with church leaders, civil society organizations, the international community, trade unionists, traditional leaders, political parties and various associations.
The cancellation of this election is also motivated by the deterioration in the state of health of candidate Andry Raobelina who is currently receiving treatment abroad, explains the Candidates’ Collective. These candidates say they will continue the peaceful marches in the streets until they win their case.
