BOLZANO. The Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano Foundation buys the building of Cinema Capitol and ensures the cultural activity of the Filmclub. The president of the Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano Foundation, Konrad Bergmeister, signed the purchase and sale contract of the Cinema Capitol building in via dott. Streiter. At the same time it was signed with the president of the Filmclub, Luigi Loddia multi-year rental contract, ensuring cultural activities in the medium-long term.

The Filmclub was founded in 1978 with the intention of expanding and consolidating the cultural program in the city of Bolzano and its surroundings, presenting high quality films and promoting cultural initiatives. In 2001 the association moved to via dott. Streiter, in the heart of the city, completely renovating the former Capitol cinema, adapting the structure to the standards of the time, still guaranteeing continuity for cinema enthusiasts today.

At the basis of these activities, in all these years, there has been – we read in a note – the continuous and consensual agreement between the ownership of the property and the association itself. Therefore, to the Merano area Tony Baurowner of the building, deceased in 2022, it was very important to us that this activity in the cinematographic sector was guaranteed even after his death, preparing, with this in mind, his last wishes towards his heirs. The latter, in compliance with these wishes, identified the Sparkasse Foundation as a congenial buyer, who could provide the necessary guarantees so that the Cineclub’s activity could have continuity over time.

Having reached an agreement between the parties, the Foundation purchased the property and at the same time rented the building to the Filmclub for the next 25 years. Both Konrad Bergmeister, president of the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation, and the president of the Filmclub, Luigi Loddi, having signed the agreements, declared themselves happy with what was contractually agreed, considering the agreement reached as an exceptional basis for guaranteeing the continuity of high-quality cinema quality and related cultural activities.
