Finance Minister KN Balagopal’s official car was stripped of its tires, according to a Finance Ministry report. The information came after a report was submitted to the tourism department, which is responsible for the ministers’ official vehicles.
A tire on the back of the minister’s vehicle was torn off at Kuravankonam in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday night. The vehicle was parked on the road but the accident was avoided as the vehicle was slowing down. The car escaped unhurt as it was traveling at a speed of only 20 kmph.
The Finance Ministry has informed the Tourism Department that the tire disc was torn due to the age of the vehicle. The car allotted to the finance minister has traveled more than 1.5 lakh km.
