The Casa Natal Salvador Dalí in Figueres will bet on the hologramsthe mapping and the audiovisual projections in order to help understand “the figure of the artist” from Figueres. The director of the equipment, Eduard Bech, explains that the birthplace will be “a complementary visit” to that of the museums held by the Gala Salvador Dalí Foundation, where a large part of the work of the Emporda native is exhibited. Through the audiovisual content it is foreseen review the training that the artist received and also the projection he had in the world. During these days of the Fairs of the Santa Creu de Figueres it has been opened to the public so that visitors can discover a small part of what the museum will be. So far, more than 250 people have been there.

The Casa Natal of Salvador Dalí plans to open its doors in the second half of 2023, but taking advantage of the Santa Creu de Figueres Fairs and Festivals, it has been opened to the public so that visitors they can see the works and a small taste of what the equipment will be.

Just by entering, the public accesses a room, which is where the Dalí’s father’s notary. In this room you can see an audiovisual that combines projections with holograms and a recreation of the notary’s room. In this first room, it is explained how Dalí’s father arrived in Figueres and how he settled the family there.

The director of the equipment, Eduard Bech, assures that they are looking for “the surprise” of the visitors from the technological resources that is within reach. This first experience gives way to the beginning of the construction visit to some of the spaces that will be in the native house.

In the mezzanine, where Salvador Dalí lived until the age of 8, there will be one interactive where you can relive the birth of the painter and from here review the training that the painter received before he became an internationally renowned artist.

Understand the character to understand the work

In no mood to do a chronological review, the natal house will also show his time in Madrid and how he met other artists. Bech has assured that during the visit, the aim is to get to know the “most intimate part” of the painter, a facet that is not usually explored in the other museums that are open there.

The director of the equipment recalled that the triangle of Dalí museums – Figueres, Portlligat and Púbol – you can see a good part of the work but sometimes you need to “understand the character” to better understand the work. In short, they seek to become a “complementary visit” to the other spaces where their work is exhibited.

In addition, there will be a room dedicated to seeing the international projection he had and how he used the media to spread his work. La Casa Natal will also dedicate an entire space to one immersive experience with the projection of some of the works while visitors listen to some of his most famous phrases.

Visitors who pass through this equipment will visit with an audio guide that will be available in Catalan, Spanish, French and English. In any case, Eduard Bech details that they are open to being able to add other languages if they see that there is a lot of demand. In addition, headphones will be used that will not fit snugly in the ear so that the audience can hear some of the ambient noise along the route and can also discuss the visit with other people.

The visit ends on the terrace, the top floor of the building on Carrer de Montoriol. In this space there will be an area with vending machines and tables to enjoy the views of the city of Figueres and a space with interactive and educational activities. Although the machines are not currently installed, the city council is offering these days some donuts to close the ‘construction site visit’ in one of the facilities most demanded by the people of Figueres.
