The headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Palamós hosted the presentation of the program this Wednesday Commitment to the Tourism Sustainability of the regions of Girona Biosphere (Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle Certification). The aim of the project is to recognize companies, services and entities that are committed to management that respects the environment, culture and social and economic return of the Girona counties. All this based its methodology on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.
The program is promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of Palamós and Costa Brava Centre, with the support of the Provincial Government of Girona. As detailed in a press release, the objective of the driving entities of the Commitment for Tourism Sustainability of the regions of Girona Biosphere is provide tools and methodology to improve sustainable management of the institutions, and obtain, at the end of the process, the Sustainable Biosphere Certification.
According to the driving entities, among other advantages, they ensure that the Commitment favors “positioning companies and entities to show leadership within an emerging trend in tourismalign with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, add value to products and services by favoring brand differentiation, advance sustainable relationships with other companies, entities and the territory itself and pioneer management training sustainable”.
All those interested public or private bodies can get in touch with Sustainable Girona destination in order to start the procedures. They detail that they will be accompanied by advice and continuous training in matters of sustainability i they will be helped to develop an Annual Action Plan to incorporate and implement the necessary measures for their organization.
