CHAMPIONSHIP

A new controversy is looming over Ecuadorian football, this time with the dispute between the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) and the Liga Pro for control of the national tournament, several clubs would be considering the possibility of the Ecuadorian championship returning to the hands of the FEF, leaving behind the management of the Pro League.

The Quito hotel unofficially hosted the meeting of several presidents of the Pro League clubs.

Journalist Gabriel Solórzano shared on his social networks that a meeting is being organized between clubs and FEF directors with the aim of transferring control of the tournament to this body again.

One of the motivations behind this initiative would be the cancellation of GolTV’s contract on the broadcasting rights of the tournament, which is currently in the hands of the Liga Pro.

Francisco Egas, president of the FEF, together with Michell Deller and Miller Salazar, members of the board and representatives of Independiente del Valle and Macará respectively, are leading this proposal and seeking to add more teams to their cause.

Rodrigo Espinosa, another manager who is also a representative of several players on the Ecuadorian National Team, has been calling for more teams to support this initiative.
