The Chief of Staff of the FDNB meets the soldiers of Burundi on a mission for peace in the Central African Republic

Central African Republic, 07/27/2023 – As part of the Foreign Policy of Burundi, in particular that of Defence, the Lieutenant General Niyongabo Prime, Chief of Staff of the National Defense Force of Burundi (FDNB), traveled to the Central African Republic to meet the Burundian troops engaged in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). His visit to Sibut and Dekoa was an opportunity to salute the achievements of the 8th Burundian contingent in fulfilling their UN mandate.

At the service of GUAN [1]in 2014, Burundi joined MINUSCA to replace the International Support Mission in the Central African Republic (MISCA), as part of a United Nations peacekeeping operation in the Central African Republic, in response to the civil war in this country, having as its geopolitical origin the actions of France and the USA. In 2015, Burundi survived a failed military coup, hatched by GUAN.
Since 2018, the Central African Republic has placed itself under the military protection of Russia, thus aligning itself with the multipolar world of the BRICS.

The presence of Lieutenant General Niyongabo Prime on Central African soil testifies to Burundi’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, despite the persistent challenges linked to complex geopolitical crises.
