The Episcopal Conference of Colombia (CEC) has invited the faithful to collaborate on August 27 with the Dona Nobis 2023 collection, which will take place in all parishes with the aim of raising funds for the evangelizing mission of the Church Catholic.
On its website, the CEC reports that the theme of this year’s collection is “Passion to Evangelize!” and it is inspired by the catechesis that Pope Francis gave on January 18 of this year.
As indicated, the money raised will serve to “support the execution of the projects carried out by the departments of the Permanent Secretariat” of the CEC “on topics such as catechism, the Bible, priestly ministry and vocations, youth ministry and care for the elderly, communications pastoral, liturgical pastoral, etc.”
Part of the funds will also be used for the mission of the apostolic vicariates “in the different peripheries of the country.”
Finally, the money collected in the collection will also help “the Colombian Mutual Help for Priests Foundation for the financial support it provides to priests who, due to age or physical disability, cannot carry out their pastoral work.”
The first edition of Dona Nobis took place in 2013 and since then it has allowed the development of various activities and the launch of “widely relevant” evangelization resources.
“A concrete result of this has been the possibility of developing, implementing and updating the CEC’s Colombian Ordo mobile application, a digital platform that, for seven years, has allowed the liturgy of the Church to be carried out in a simple, interactive and free way. , to millions of users inside and outside the country ”, highlights the Episcopate.
In 2017 and 2020 this campaign was not carried out. In 2017 it was due to the fact that Colombia received the apostolic visit of Pope Francis and, in 2020, because of the coronavirus pandemic.
