According to the investigative department of the USC for the Brest region, at about 18:00 on September 11 of this year in Brest, a 31-year-old driver, driving a Mercedes-Benz bus, was moving from a gas station near the Brest Repair and Construction Trust towards Lieutenant Ryabtsev Street. At an intersection, while turning right, he hit a minor cyclist crossing the roadway.
As a result of a traffic accident, a 10-year-old boy died on the spot from his injuries.
During the investigation, the accused admitted guilt in the crime and said that he did not look around when turning.
In the criminal case, witnesses were questioned, a number of expert studies and an investigative experiment were conducted, the results of which established that the bus driver had the opportunity to see in advance a minor cyclist moving in the direction of a controlled pedestrian crossing.
Based on the results of the investigation, it was established that the bus driver was moving to the simultaneous permissive signal of transport and pedestrian traffic lights, was not convinced of the safety of the maneuver, did not give way to a young cyclist and hit him with the front part of the vehicle.
The defendant was charged under Part 2 of Article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle, resulting in the death of a person through negligence) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
