The Eco label is one of the most sought-after badges when purchasing a new vehicle. Stellantis knows this and has applied the same light hybridization system already present in the Alfa Romeo Tonale to the largest SUV of the two-chevron brand.
The C5 Aircross already had a version with the Zero label, with a plug-in hybrid drive of up to 180 horsepower. For 2024 it also comes with a slight aesthetic update.
Specifically, it is a 21 kW (28 HP) electric drive associated with a 48-volt battery and the 1.2-liter Puretech three-cylinder engine, and together they deliver 136 horsepower. The addition of the electric drive has allowed emissions and gasoline consumption to be reduced by 15%.
With a six-speed automatic clutch, the new C5 Aircross hybrid can drive only in electric mode, at low speeds, but you must be very gentle with the pedal. In normal use, however, it will be more noticeable when starting from a standstill, where there are a few meters of electrical assistance to the thermal one.
Thus, Citroën has managed to achieve a propellant with approved urban consumption of 2.3 liters per 100 km. The instrument panel has been redesigned to more accurately indicate battery consumption, energy flow and regenerative braking.
In this last aspect, it is particularly aggressive in order to recharge the battery, something that happens considerably quickly. On the other hand, it means that the speed is considerably reduced when you lift your foot off the pedal.
Inside, nothing has changed compared to the fully thermal versions, and it is still an SUV with a spacious cabin, a bench with three independent seats in the rear, lots of foam, hydraulic suspensions and a well-thought-out multimedia system. This makes it one of the most comfortable models in its segment for daily use.
Prices for the light hybridization model start at 34,375 euros with introductory discounts for the You trim level, up to 40,850 for the ë-Series, the most equipped of all.
