Today, on July 17, the regular World Universiade ended in Kazan, Russia. The competitions of the representatives of Armenia gave no reason to complain. The samba players performed great. Especially Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg) deserves praise. He defeated all the competitors, won the first place, won the title of student games champion and was awarded with a gold medal. His teammates Mher Karapetyan (82 kg) and Hakob Arakelyan (+ 100 kg) won bronze.
Boxer Artur Kirajyan (64 kg), freestyle wrestler Davit Safaryan (66 kg), Greco-Roman wrestlers Maxim Manukyan (84 kg), Artur Aleksanyan (96 kg) and grandmaster Zaven Andriasyan participated successfully and won silver medals. Boxer Henrik Mokoin (56 kg) and Greco-Roman wrestler Arsen Julfalakyan (74 kg) took third place.
According to the medal count, the Armenian national team took 32nd place: 10 medals (1 + 5 + 4).
As reported by the press department of the NAOC, among the neighboring countries, Azerbaijan was recognized as the 15th (4 + 5 +7), Turkey – the 29th (2 + 0 + 5), Iran – the 33rd (1 + 5 + 3). Georgia – 48th (0 + 1 +2).
The delegation of the Russian Federation had a brilliant competition: 292 (155 + 75 + 62). The next two prize places were occupied by the representatives of China – 77 (26 + +29 +22) and Japan – 84 (24 + 28 + 32).
The closing ceremony of the Kazan World Student Games will take place today, July 17. It starts at 22:00.
