The Libyan General Intelligence Service said that the coming days will be difficult for the enemies of the homeland and the citizen.
This came in a statement by the agency, a copy of which was obtained by “Ain Libya”, in response to what it described as the fierce campaign launched by some social media pages, and also to respond to what was issued by the official page of the Attorney General’s Office in the case of the attempted assassination of citizen Abdul Majeed Maliqta.
The agency stressed that it is generally too noble to be a tool for carrying out such acts, as the agency was established to protect the homeland and the citizen, protect state institutions, and uncover terrorist operations, intelligence plots, and their agents from within in order to protect Libyan national security.
The statement added that the agency, like any post-2011 institution, has appointed employees on contracts or official appointments, explaining that the members referred by the Attorney General’s Office to the agency’s National Security Department may have previously obtained work contracts.
The agency noted that the accused persons are residents of the Western Region, and may have work contracts or belong to the Western Region Anti-Security Threats Agency, which is an independent agency by Prime Minister Decision No. 101 of 2024 AD, and citizen Abdul Majeed Maliqta may have a dispute with the accused, and these actions are considered personal even if they belong to the agency and are not attributed to the agency or its head, according to the statement.
The statement also noted that the agency had previously cooperated with the Public Prosecutor’s Office in several cases and was still cooperating and providing investigations that the Public Prosecution requested.
