The Community of Madrid brings together the largest university offer in Spain, congregating 17 of the 89 university centers that exist in almost 200 municipalities in the country, 20% of the total, and is also at the forefront in terms of educational offer broad with 1,660 degrees, including Degrees, Masters and Doctorates, according to the analysis prepared by the group of experts of the Coordinated Institute of Governance and Applied Economics (ICGEA), which has examined the Spanish university and training offer.
In total, the region has 17 universities, six public and eleven private, which places it at the top of the national ranking, ahead of Catalonia, which has 12 universities, Andalusia, which has 11, and the Valencian Community and Castile and León, with nine universities each.
In addition, it brings together the most outstanding training offer thanks to the 1,660 degrees taught in its centers, including Bachelors, Masters and Doctorates. “The Community of Madrid is a pole of attraction of key talent in Spain from the University thanks to the great training offer it brings together and the quality of the public and private universities present in the region. The community of university students in Madrid , with more than 300,000 people both from Spain and abroad, is the largest in Spain and one of the largest in Europe”, said the executive vice-president of the Coordenades Institute, Jesús Sánchez Lambás.
Madrid is also the region with the most Degree qualificationswith 636, with 8% more than Catalonia and 37% more than Andalusia; and for Master’s degrees with 807, 12% more than Catalonia and 36% more than Andalusia.
“The work done by public and private universities to have quality degrees and, in some cases, develop disruptive educational models aligned with the demand of the professional market, is transforming into the creation of a virtuous community of talent that feeds back”, highlighted Sánchez Lambás.
Specifically, the Community hosts eleven private centers: Alfons X el Sabio, Antonio de Nebrija, Camilo José Cela, CUNEF, ESIC, Europea de Madrid, Francisco de Vitoria, Internacional Villanueva, CEU Sant Pablo, UDIMA and Pontifícia Comillas. Also, six public ones (Alcalá, Autònoma, Carles III, Complutense, Politècnica and King Joan Carles) and the headquarters of the UNED.

Among them, in the mentioned study five stand out –Autonomous University of Madrid, Alfonso X the Wise University, Complutense University of Madrid, Pontifical University Comillas, Polytechnic University— “for his constant work and his contribution to the formation of a diverse educational offer, with current qualifications and that respond to the demands of the labor market in the Community of Madrid”.
In detail, the Complutense University of Madridthe third largest face-to-face teaching university in Europe, is among the 200 best universities in the world and one of the 75 best European. It offers training in more than 80 Degree and double Degree titles and more than 140 Masters, in addition to permanent training studies.
Among the best in the international rankings is also theAutonomous of Madrid, recognized as one of the 220 best universities in the world and among the 100 most prestigious universities in Europe. In your case, it includes an offer of more than 50 degrees of Grau, 8 double Degrees and 87 Masters, as well as 34 doctoral programs and almost a hundred own titles.
It also stands out in this same line Polytechnic Universityamong the 60 best universities in the world in Engineering and Technology, according to the QS World University Ranking 2022, and with degrees in the fields of Mining Engineering and Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering that are among the 50 best in the world
L’Alfonso X the Wise, which also appears in the main international rankings, offers training in more than 125 Bachelor’s, Double Degree, Master’s and Doctorate programs, as well as Third Cycle FP qualifications. It also has 8,800 agreements with companies and 93% of its students find employment in the first year after finishing their studies.
On the other hand, the Comillas Pontifical University, run by the Company of Jesús, included between positions 601-650 in the QS international ranking and among its most recognized degrees are ICAI, the university’s School of Engineering, and ICADE, which brings together the faculties of Law and Economic and Business Sciences. It stands out for the high level of employment of its graduates, which is close to 100%.
