The Conservatory of Music and the Youth Ballet of Girona fill the Municipal Theater with “Coppélia”

The Girona Conservatory Orchestra and Girona Youth Ballet joined on Sunday to offer Coppéliaa ballet show that filled the two performances offered at the Municipal Theatre.

For the students of the Conservatory of Girona, it is common to give concerts, however participating in a ballet performance requires quite a different work of the usual At the same time, for members of the Youth Ballet of Girona it is also not common to dance to the sound of live music. Thinking about the experience this entails for young music and dance students, the Conservatory of Girona and the Youth Ballet of Girona decided to create a joint show, a project with the characteristics of a professional show.

Twenty-two dancers and sixty professional degree students from the Conservatory of Girona have participated in this project, with music by Léo Delibes, who already started working on it in September, at the start of the school year. The director of the professional grade orchestra of the Conservatory of Girona, Lluís Cavalleria, has been responsible for the musical direction, while Tess Buck Gili and Volodymyr Fortunenko have assumed the artistic direction and choreography.

As is usually done in this type of show, the orchestra was placed under the stage. That is why, exceptionally, the first four rows of the theater were removed to accommodate the orchestra, since the theater does not have a moat.
