Evolyn, the new high-speed railway company led by the Asturian Cosmen family – promoter of Alsa – continues to take steps to begin operating in the Eurotunnel in 2025 and compete with Eurostar on the Paris-London route. To have a fleet of high-speed trains in just two years, Evolyn has partnered with the British company Rock Rail, specialized in raising capital for investment in rolling stock and leasing trains.

Last month, Evolyn announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire 12 high-speed trains from the French manufacturer Alstom, with the option of up to 16, to offer a transportation alternative to the more than 11 million passengers who travel each year between the United Kingdom and continental Europe through the tunnel that crosses the English Channel. A project that involves an investment of 1,000 million euros and in which Jorge Cosmen, CEO of Evolyn, has been working for three years, a company in which the Cosmen family exercises leadership and which is separate from Alsa and Mobico (former National Express and which has the Cosmens as its largest shareholders).

“Expansión” announced yesterday that to acquire the Alstom trains for the Eurotunnel, Evolyn has selected in a competitive process Rock Rail, a British company that attracts institutional investors (pension funds, insurance companies…) to obtain capital for the acquisition of new railway rolling stock that it leases or helps to acquire.
