The Kemerovo Regional Court did not satisfy the complaint about the arrest of the chief engineer of the Listvyazhnaya mine, Anatoly Lobanov, and the general director of the SDS-Ugol holding, Gennady Alekseev, as part of an emergency at the mine.
“The lawyer’s complaint was left without satisfaction,” a court spokesman said about Mr Lobanov’s arrest (quoted by Interfax). Also, the court “the decision of the Central District Court of Kemerovo on the arrest of Alekseev was left unchanged, the appeal of the defenders was not satisfied.”
On the eve of the Kemerovo regional court, Mikhail Fedyaev, president of the SDS holding (he owns the Listvyazhnaya mine), was arrested and accused of abuse of authority in the case of an explosion at the enterprise.
The accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine took place on 25 November. The preliminary reason is the explosion of the methane-air mixture. As a result, 51 people died, including five mine rescuers.
