Today, the Baku Court of Appeals heard an appeal against the arrest warrant against Nazim Beydamirli, former deputy of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, public figure and entrepreneur.

Lawyer Agil Layjic said that the Court of Appeal did not satisfy the appeal and upheld the decision of the first instance court against Beydamirli.

According to the lawyer, Beydamirli did not commit this crime. “This is not the real reason for his arrest. There is no basis for choosing a preventive measure of arrest. There was no need to isolate him from society. We regret that the Court of Appeal kept Beydamirli in prison,” the lawyer said.

According to him, Beydamirli gave some messages in court.

“He said that if his public speeches harmed anyone, he is ready to apologize to those people, even to apologize in writing. No, if the reason for his arrest is related to that share (meaning a share in any enterprise), he is ready to donate that share to any person,” the lawyer said.

He said that after that, the defense side will file a petition for Beydamirli’s house arrest.
