The current government thinks that all the problems of the country have been resolved after the National Assembly elections. Reality says otherwise. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that the government crisis has not subsided, but the overall crisis has deepened across the country.

He made this comment in response to questions from journalists at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan in the capital on Sunday (May 12).

BNP organized this press conference to announce the decision of the standing committee meeting. Before the start of the press conference, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul highlighted his health condition.

Mirza Fakhrul said that before the election, many leaders and activists were sentenced unilaterally by the court. BNP strongly condemned it. The government also sentenced without a hearing. Important leaders are still in jail.

Pointing out that Awami League has become more reckless after the election, he said that the police have arrested more than two thousand leaders and activists to depoliticize it. Its main purpose is to ensure that opposition political parties do not exist. The court is the last hope of the people, but even there no one is getting any remedy.

Stating that 527 Indian products were found to contain toxic ingredients, BNP Secretary General said that every country should check the quality of imported products after reaching their respective countries. Imported goods should not be sent to the market for public purchase as soon as they reach the country concerned. Because, earlier in 2022 and 2023, 121 Indian products were identified as harmful to human body. Yet the country of origin of the goods has not taken any appropriate measures to make these goods free from defects.

Mirza Fakhrul said that Hong Kong and Singapore have imposed a ban on the sale of powdered spices by Indian companies MDH and Everest Spice in their countries. Singapore has also ordered the withdrawal of Everest spice powder from the country’s market. Hong Kong The two countries took this decision after the cancer-causing chemical ethylene oxide was detected in powdered spices of two Indian companies.

In such a situation, the meeting feels that to ensure the health and safety of the people, Bangladesh should also check the quality of each product imported into the country through proper testing before releasing it to the market. Products imported from abroad should not be released in the market without inspection by Bangladesh Safe Food Authority or related responsible institutions.

In response to the journalist’s question, Mirza Fakhrul said that Bangladesh is a failed state. The government has become a failed state by design. I have been saying this for a long time. When does a state become a failed state? When the backbone of the economy is broken, the climate of politics is destroyed. The entire state has turned into an anarchy. There is no job without bribe. That too is not possible without the ruling party. All in all, Bangladesh has become a failed state. Government MP-ministers smuggled money and invested it abroad. But the condition of the people of Bangladesh is very bad.

Regarding BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Mirza Fakhrul said, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is the first woman freedom fighter of Bangladesh. Awami League got angry when he said this. But it’s true. He is very sick. He is under constant medical observation.

Regarding the visit of US Assistant Minister Donald Lure to Bangladesh, BNP Secretary General said that there is no interest in who came. People are the strength of BNP. The government thinks the crisis is over after the elections. But in reality, the crisis has increased.
