Nobility obliges – Netflix knows that too!

The streaming giant celebrated the final season of “The Crown” in London on Tuesday and invited people to the chic “Royal Festival Hall”. The mega-series traces the dramas of the British royal family. No wonder the REAL royals avoided this premiere like the devil avoided holy water. The stars of the show came in high spirits.

“I sat down with a bottle of red wine and watched all the episodes with my partner,” says Marcia Warren (80) to BILD. The British actress plays Queen Mum (†101) in the series. Warren happy: “Who gets the role of a lifetime at 80?!”

“Sleep, Love, Sleep” is the name of the final episode of the Emmy-winning Netflix show. It is 70 minutes long and can also be watched as a film on its own without any prior knowledge of “The Crown”. The last six episodes can be seen officially from December 14th.

BILD already reveals a few details.

WHAT’S THE MATTER?

The final episode is a love letter to the late Queen (†96), as production employees tell BILD. The Queen, played by British actress Imelda Staunton (67), appears completely private in the episode. She reflects on her life as Elizabeth Windsor, as a woman. And as Queen of Great Britain and the Commonwealth.

Also a big topic: the wedding of Charles and Camilla in April 2005. “The Crown” shows the conflict between the queen and how heart and duty conflicted at the time.

The royal problem child Prince Harry (played by Luther Ford, 23) also plays a role in “Sleep, Love, Sleep”. The viewer is shown that Harry was severely traumatized by the death of his mother Diana († 36) in 1997, which the real Harry often confirmed. His struggle with the role as the second-born prince is also discussed.

History repeats itself: Princess Margaret (†71) also found life difficult in the shadow of her sister, the Queen. She distracted herself with pompous parties in her salon, sang and played the piano for her high-profile guests such as Mick Jagger (80) and Peter Sellers (54).

In total, “The Crown” was nominated for 341 awards, of which the drama series won more than 150. In total there were 40,000 supporting actors and 2,500 people who acted as film crew.

Khalid Abdalla (42), who plays Dodi Al-Fayed (†42), said to BILD: “It was the purest pilgrimage! The role means so much to me. Especially with what’s going on in the world at the moment.” The Egyptian actor made a political statement at the premiere in the context of Hamas’ war against Israel, writing “permanent ceasefire” on his hands.

An orchestra with 72 musicians played at the gala performance in London; the atmosphere on site was exuberant, but also reverent and wistful. This marks the end of one of the most complex Netflix productions of all time after seven years.

But there is hope: “The Crown” maker Peter Morgan (60) simply needs time to realistically classify the events. Producer Suzanne Mackie in an interview with “Broadcast”: “He believes that ten years is the absolute minimum time to see something in a historical context.”

Maybe filming will resume in 2033: the drama about Meghan and Harry offers enough material…
